Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of Iceland's best known Landmarks is where we
start our Expedition.  From there we head
inland towards Thorsmork along the mighty glacial River Markarfljót.   This big River accumulates water from the 3
Glacier covered Volcanoes surrounding the Thorsmork Valley. 

The best known of the three is
Eyjafjallajokull, the Volcano causing all the disruption to international Air
Traffic when it
erupted in 2010.

On the way we will cross many Rivers
flowing down from the tall Mountains towering over the Valley.   On their way down the Rivers have carved out deep and narrow
Gorges and Caves.  Some are only a few
meters wide and very inaccessible.

We have a way to beat that and we
will put on Waders, Helmets and Headlights and venture into the Ravines through the flowing Water to discover
beautiful Waterfalls at the bottom or cut through Mountain Ridges to discover
hidden Valley’s at the other side.

Finally we set course to Básar
Mountain Cabin, located in the Woodlands at the far end of the Thorsmork Valley.  
There we will enjoy a barbecued meal out in the open surrounded by the
Rugged beauty of the Glacier capped Mountains.

Then we turn back towards civilization taking a short hike to look at
the Ice cave at Gígjokull Glaciertongue and 
examine the evidence of the massive Floods following the
Eyjafjallajokull Eruption.
